Adenoidectomy

Adenoidectomy

Adenoidectomy is a surgical procedure performed to remove inflamed or enlarged adenoids, which can cause airway obstruction, snoring, sleep apnea, and recurrent infections. Adenoids are immune tissues located near the palate and play a vital role in immunity during early childhood. However, they may sometimes become problematic due to persistent inflammation or infection, requiring surgical intervention. YNB Health Care specializes in providing expert and safe adenoidectomy procedures to improve patients' quality of life.

Procedure and Preparation for Adenoidectomy

What Happens During Adenoidectomy?

Once you are diagnosed with adenoiditis or related complications, your ENT specialist will explain the surgical process in detail. Adenoidectomy is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes less than 30 minutes. Here’s a step-by-step outline of the procedure:

  1. Anesthesia: The patient is put under general anesthesia for a pain-free experience.
  2. Accessing the Adenoids: A retractor is used to keep the mouth open while the surgeon accesses the adenoids.
  3. Removal of Adenoids: The surgeon removes the inflamed adenoids using a curette or laser.
  4. Cauterization or Sutures: To minimize bleeding, the surgeon may cauterize the area or use sutures if necessary.
  5. Post-Surgery Monitoring: The patient is moved to a recovery room for observation before being discharged, usually on the same day.

In cases where additional surgeries like tonsillectomy are required, these are often performed simultaneously.
